Sprint Diamond on Verizon network

I've been following this tutorial on how to enable a Sprint Touch Pro on the Verizon network. I am trying to get that same thing accomplished with a Sprint Diamond. So far I have not been successful. Asked some questions in the other thread...but since that is a Touch Pro thread it gets lost in the chatter.

I have problem with the following two steps:

1) When running the Raphael unlocker (0.37) it shows a 100% progress bar on the Diamond, then on the PC the install wizard gives me error: ERROR [244] INVALID MODEL ID. This update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone.

Oddly enough...the phone does seem to be unlocked. I can force it into bootloader mode, and it shows "Secury Unlocked" in bootloader mode. So was it successful or not?

2) I am having a similar issue with loading the leaked VZW ROM. It gets to 1% progress, then the wizard on the PC also reports the above error and that it. Can't get the VZW leaked ROM installed.

Would this be because the leaked ROM is for the Raphael only? If so, could anyone recommend a very "clean" sprint ROM to use as a basis? I'd like it to be as close to stock WinMo6.1 as possible, the fewer Sprint apps or customizations or 3rd party apps the better (I'll use it as a basis to cook my own ROM later, once I figure out how based on the tutorials here).

Thanks!

Re: Sprint Diamond on Verizon network

If I read this correctly, you are trying to unlock a victor (cdma diamond) using the raphael (cdma touch pro) unlocker and trying to load a Raphael ROM on a victor?

You get a model error because these are two different phones (although they share many of the same components). Look in the Diamond Upgrade forum for the unlocker and search the diamond forums for info on the sprint -> verizon conversion.

I'm using Juicy 3.8 ROM which is clean and fast. Works fine with verizon.

Take these threads for a spin:

Re: Sprint Diamond on Verizon network

OK this helped a lot. I am now on the VZW network with the stock Sprint Diamond ROM. Two questions...

1) I don't think there IS a VZW carrier cab for a Diamond. Haven't seen one for a Pro either. So can I use one from e.g. a Vogue?

2) When I have a DCD Carrier cab for Verizon, what do I apply that to:
a) the current stock Sprint ROM?
b) any of the CDMA Diamond ROMs out there, but without running carrier customizations?
Thanks!

The carrier cab is not required. I haven't installed it and I haven't run into problems either.

Huh, I wasn't aware you could move a Sprint device to Verizon - thought Verizon did the same thing as Sprint where if the device ESN was not in their database, you were SOL.

That's still true when you call them to have it activated. But you can now activate a non-carrier phone yourself by dialing *228, then option 3.

Ok cool, thanks. Do you know if there is a Diamond ROM out there that has an optional install of the carrier customizations? That way I could install only the standard WM6.1 stuff with no carrier branding or 3rd party apps.

Re: Sprint Diamond on Verizon network

I've successfully converted a Diamond from Sprint to Verizon using this message board. But I have a question: Do I have to it again if I flash to a new ROM? (Specifically Mighty's or Juicy's)

Most of the ROMs out there have user customization rather than carrier customization.
