WifiLocations for CDMA?

So, I think the WifiLocations app being developed over on XDA has the potential to be a really cool little app - turning WIFI, bluetooth or other services on or off depending on which cell you are connected with (home, office, etc....)

It doesn't currently support CDMA, though. I know there are some very smart guys and girls here (Tobey, Conflipper, Juicy, Juggalo, Ghetto, etc...), and was wondering if anyone might be willing to try to work with those guys to help get this working for our devices.

I'm sure it can be done!!!

Re: WifiLocations for CDMA?

looks like a nice idea, however you would need the source code for the program in order to be able to have this work. So the program developer is going to have to do this. Also he did say on there that if anyone knows how to read CDMA cell site data. to let him know. However I am not sure how to do this. If I had an idea, I could try and help out. Maybe I will read around and see what I can find out.

Thanks for the link, I will try and look into it.

Re: WifiLocations for CDMA?

bases on helping navizon get cdma cell detection, I can tell you that a cdma "cell tower" is actually a group of towers, so I have to leave town to get a different one.

cool man, all us dumb guys here appreciate the hard work done by you guys with all the brains.

also, if it really isn't possible to detect single cell towers on CDMA, as shaggylive said, surely the same app can be developed based on GPS position (but would probably be a big battery drain?)

i wish i knew the first thing about developing an app....

Thanks again for checking it out...

Re: WifiLocations for CDMA?

Doesn't seem as if any progress has been made over at XDA. Anyone here have luck sorting out the CDMA compatibility issue? This would be a great app to have!

The closest thing I could find is not location based at all, but rather time based. Still interesting:

Re: WifiLocations for CDMA?

Looks very useful. I would use this even if the cell tower location didn't work and you could manually initiate the profiles.

does an app currently exist like this without the cell tower location part? Just something where you can save profiles and commands based on where you are, ie. home, office, gym, etc.
