Angry Has someone got Blackberry Connect to work for Sprint Diamond? Using Seven now

Just seeing if anybody knows how to get the blackberry connect software working...i found this http://mobilitytoday.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17264
to which I cannot get to work still.

Using Seven software now to sync with work exchange server. My workplace will not pay the money involved to enable me to connect with my WM device. DOES anybody know why WM can't setup with exchange servers in the way that the samsung instinct and blackberry devices do? When I had the instinct for a little while before the touch diamond, I noticed it would setup with exchange servers just like that of blackberry devices.

Leaving Seven Software running MURDERS the battery life.

Re: Has someone got Blackberry Connect to work for Sprint Diamond? Using Seven now

WM devices connect directly to the Exchange server via HTTP and allow push directly to the WM device when a new message arrives. I don't know how Blackberry does it, other than I am pretty sure that they require the Blackberry Enterprise mail system to be installed for integration.

But I have never had a problem with getting my WM devices to connect to my Exchange servers. And connecting a WM device to an Exchange server does not cost extra money. That functionality is included, out of the box, from Microsoft with Exchange (2000+).

I think your IT guys are leaning a little too close to the table when soldering and are getting brain damage. That or they are lazy and don't want to help you...

Re: Has someone got Blackberry Connect to work for Sprint Diamond? Using Seven now

For whatever reason, when I go through the prompts to setup with my work exchange server it won't complete...unlike that of the samsung instinct (although instinct didn't sync up calendar it did sync email) I know the domain name as well. I'm not sure if my work guys are shiesty because of security issues but whatever the case, seven software works whereas WM doesn't unless according to my work IT-dept they say it won't work unless Lifetime pays for an exchange license of some sort.

If your company has Exchange, and the HTTP (port 80) is open on the firewall to the Exchange server, your WM phone should work. True, they could disable the connectivity rights on the server, but why? That would make no sense at all. From a security standpoint it is not an issue to allow WM phones to access an Exchange server.

Either they don't want to do it or they don't know how to do it for you.

I don't understand your question. WM phones can setup via ActiveSync on the WM phone to connect directly to an Exchange server. Otherwise, how could I have over 25 phones in my company that are connected directly to my Exchange server?

Have you Googled for setup instructions for an Exchange account on a WM phone? Do you want me to post screenshots of the setup on my Diamond for my Exchange server (with necessary information changed for public viewing)?

Some companies choose to lock it down for security reasons. If they uncheck the option in your outlook profile you won't be able to use activesync. Seven works through OWA so as long as you can get OWA then Seven should work. Yes it does kill the battery on the diamond and is not too reliable for me lately.

the instinct does not sync directly with an exchange server. work email/exchange email will not work on it unless you have OWA. (outlook web access).

Rainfreak is correct. WIndows mobile devices are designed to sync with exchange accounts, there is no additional costs to use it, providing that all the hardware/software aspects are met. If your IT department/guy cant tell u how to configure your WM device to get remote access to your email thru activesync...i feel for you...

Some companies...(for example sprint, i am a retail store employee) will block users from being able to access corporate email on handhelds for various reasons by blocking the port.
