Re: why would you use wifi if you have a data plan?
I do at home for faster download speeds when grabbing cabs form the Internet. Also, to get music/videos from my home PC.
Also, just because I can.

Sometimes you could be in a location with a weak cellular signal, or maybe the locations wifi bandwidth is stronger than your data plan's. The ability to connect via wifi is very handy.

I use it when traveling outside of the country. CDMA can be very limiting....
