opinions on texting - frustrating to me...

I use the regular keyboard when I'm texting, it's smaller than the other keyboards but looks like a regular keyboard, which I like.

I seem to be having a problem when I'm typing words where it highlights the word as I'm typing it and then when I hit the space bar it sometimes clears the word and when I type a new word, the first word is gone. I've turned off all of the touch input settings (spell correction, auto substitution, etc.)

This drives me crazy... doesn't do it all the time, but consistent enough to drive me crazy.
I wish there were a way I could type a word and, no matter if I'm misspelling it or not, what I type is what I see, no highlighting, etc.

i just keep it on full qwerty and turn off T9 on the keyboard. That way its just like a regular keyboard, and im pretty fast at texting becasue of it.

If you want to toggle off T9, its on the left side of the space bar.. i think thats whats causing you the problems.

Is the black bar coming up with word corrections?

If thats your problem try this...

Switch your keyboard to Full Qwerty. Turn off T9 mode by hitting the 'ABC T9' button and make sure ABC is selected. Then switch back to regular keyboard and try it now. The black bar with word suggestions should now be gone.

Re: opinions on texting - frustrating to me...

i love the compact qwerty as i had the pearl for a little bit. just annoying bit that WM doens't do that the BB software does is when you have a word such as "are" and "see" since it uses the same key strokes, the BB would usually pick the right word depending on what words were typed previously versus WM i think picks the word that you used last.

i despise the full qwerty on this thing.

I always keep the T9 on when I first get the phone to see how good it is but this one seems better or maybe I'm just predictable.

one thing that i find extremely helpful for texting is to change to landscape mode so the keyboard is longer and i am able to type with both thumbs like my mogul.
