Can't seem to delete favorite contacts under "People"

I added several favorite contacts under "People", by selecting them out of the contact list. When prompted for their photo, I chose one of the generic silhouettes.

Later, when I tried to delete an entry (Menu>Remove Favorite), I found that even though I chose "yes" to remove, the item remained.

I had to delete the entry out of the contacts to get it to go away under "People".

Any thoughts?

Soft reset, the deleted contact(s) goes away. But, I can no longer re-add those contacts as favorite. I can only add other entries in my contact list. Bizarre.
