Diamond and the "retina display"...

Much has been made of the iphone 4's "Retina Display", yet it could be said that the Diamond (and the TP) preceded the iphone 4 with a display that could also be called a retina display. With VGA res and a 2.8" screen, the dot pitch comes out to be 286dpi. Although the iphone 4 is higher at 326dpi, and Jobs claims that a display needs to be over 300dpi to be considered a retina display, some visual scientists have said that 250dpi is good enough to be considered to be a retina display.

In any case, at 286dpi, the Diamond is certainly very close and far above most other displays in common usage today which are usually well below 250 dpi. Just another reason I still like using the Diamond...

Re: Diamond and the "retina display"...

I know. I wish it was capacitive though but I am more partial to Android anyway. It was a nice phone though.

Since when is "Retina display" a technical "specification"?
