Sprint automatically reloaded stock ROM ???

Turned on my phone this morning and it went into some kind of update mode... Could not stop it. Seems now that the phone is back to a stock type ROM... Was using Mighty ROM... I got to the point of depending on the WiFi tethering application for work. WiFi Sharing App gone, but others such as Google Maps, Weather Apps, and Pictures are still there. Weird...:scratch::scratch:

Did Sprint force an update to the HTC's running custom ROMs?

Device Information still says:
ROM Ver: MightyROM6
ROM Date: 7/7/09

But all users settings, ringer, backlight, clock, wallpaper back to stock. What happened?

Wifi Sharing gone, no option to turn Wifi on anymore...

Haven't tried reflashing yet, been so long since I messed with this phone, need to read up on it again (refresh my knowledge)...

Update:

Tried reload Wifi Sharing App and got and error message:

"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."

mmmmm....

It will be totally impossible if you know how big a rom is for Sprint to reload a stock rom over the air. Or you have something on the internal storage (one method is to flash from internal storage) and that got accidentally triggered. Try load a new rom from PC.

sounds like you accidentally held the back arrow and volume down when you turned it on and then hit power again to flash the stock ROM that happened to be on your External Storage.

That's the only way it could have gone back to a stock ROM from a custom ROM.

Re: Sprint automatically reloaded stock ROM ???

Its possible. But why back to Stock instead of reloading Mighty. I flashed using USB over a year ago.

I reflashed the Mighty ROM and all is well again. Lost my contacts since I haven't backup in a while.

Strange occurrence, but now my phone is better. I got to refresh my memory to load ROMs and software again. Updated a few things in the process.

since device info says Mightyrom, I can't imagine you are back to stock. More likely you somehow did a hard reset which wiped out your phonebook and somehow restored settings by accidently triggering a registry restore or something along that lines. do you have sashimi installed or advanced config or a registry editor. Any of these programs accidently run in your pocket could have bizarre consequences. this is why I run devicelock and always try to keep my phone locked. I'm amazed sometimes what I find running on my phone just from ear contact during a phone call !
