Windows Mobile 7 Series Preview (bashfest)

well, microsoft has jacked BMW's signature model, the 7 series, to the mobile platform -- as if it wasn't mobile before. (got this from bmw mobile site )

here is the preview plus a commercial. http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/15/w...d-impressions/

i don't see anything special in windows 7, to be honest. interface aside, its smoothness is plenty years too late. its a mixture of slightly larger iphone-like buttons and a panoramic background. as always, it's a windows phone, caught glimpses of lag, and overall sluggish performance. i mean, its miles away from what windows mobile is now, but when this zune phone will hit the market, iphone 4gs will leave it in the dust, where it belongs. aesthetically it is pretty clean, and sharp. it appealed to me, but i don't see this as a competitive platform. winmo 7 is not due anytime soon. apple is not even thinking of screwing up the iphone, palm will probably have solid webos devices out within this year, and blackberry is still the preffered messenger. the new platform kind of deviates from its faithful HTC host. i don't see manila fitting into all this. looks more like LG will start mass manufacturing winmo7 smartphones. oh and once google goggles hit on android, i don't see anything special winmo7 has to offer. it crawls around social networks updating pics? nice. battery life? crap? i know i am kind of harsh, but its just my impression of the thing. maybe i am also pretty bitter after a year with winmo6.x.x with 2 more to go. lol, the ending to the demo is nice. "and lets see the dialer.... oh standard dialer. this is it? yep standard plain dialer." lol

Re: Windows Mobile 7 Series Preview

I was hoping for a preview and got a bash fest. At least change the title of this thread. This is not a "preview" by any stretch of the imagination.

Re: Windows Mobile 7 Series Preview (bashfest)

Windows 7 is the a step in the right direction for microsoft. The idea and specs are there but it is just 2-3 years too late! And why are they showing us this now! Its not going to come out until Xmas if there are no delays....

Apple showed us the iPad and it will be ready in a month! Everyone will forget about windows 7 because google or apple will come out with a better product around the same time it gets released.

Nice try M$... but you are always one step behind!

This thread has nothing to do with the Diamond...just WinMo7.

I'll quit thread-jacking now and leave you to that.

Re: Windows Mobile 7 Series Preview (bashfest)

did i say it was for diamond? i come here regularly so i posted a hands on preview of winmo 7 for criticism. i have offered up some of mine. diamond users are also winmo users so i thought they would find news of windows mobile somewhat relevant.

Re: Windows Mobile 7 Series Preview (bashfest)

I doubt very much that Windows Phone 7 Series will come to any older devices excpet for possibly the HTC HD2.
A big part is it requires a GPU for the animation, and unless WP7S has drivers for the TP2 (if the GPU is even good enough) your not gonna get anywhere.
Also Capacitive will be a stumbling block. There will be plenty of new phones out that will run it very well. So it will be a perfect time to upgrade to a CPU that is atleast 1Ghz.
