SPC code on Verizon and info on SPC codes?
 

I'm looking to buy a verizon htc apache from ebay and since my local CDMA dealer refuses to hook phones from other companies, this means I need the SPC code for the verizon phone, so I can change the ESN to match that of the free phone my local dealer gave me on contract.

Just wondering if anyone knows their SPC code who is on Verizon? Is the SPC code the same for all Apaches, or is it carrier or phone specific?

The SPC code on my current SaskTel apache is: 111111 and the MSL is: 546140 .

Can someone with a Verizon XV6700 please run QPST v 2.7 b215 and try to see if they can log on to their phone using QPST and the instructions provided here:

You don't need the SPC... you need the MSL, which for all Verizon phones is six zeros (000000)

Edit: And technically you can look up the SPC and MSL yourself using BitPim and those drivers your posted. Just look in nvm for nvm_security. The first number is your MSL, second is the OTKSL/SPC.

Keep in mind though that if you ever do a master reset (not a hard reset) your MSL and SPC will revert to the original ones. I have not figured out where that data is backed up on the phone, but apparently it is.

To log on to the phone using QPST you need the SPC (typing in the MSL doesn't work).

I can't get BitPim to work and when I use UniCDMA my SPC code shows up

Can't get BitPim to work? What kind of problem is it having?

- Make sure you're running the latest version
- Make sure you go into settings and change the phone type to "Other CDMA" and click Browse to make sure that you're selecting the correct port (if you installed the drivers correctly there will be two ports. One should be available and the other shouldn't).
- Then just go to the Filesystem section and expand it.

FYI, I know that QPST asks for SPC, but the MSL always supercedes the SPC. (which can really only be used one time). I always use the MSL with QPST so I know it works.

If this is truly a Verizon phone and hasn't been messed with, the MSL will be 000000. I would imagine that the SPC is also 000000 since Verizon doesn't use the MSL/SPC concept to protect their phones.

So did you actually buy the phone already? In your first post you said you were looking to buy it from ebay, but your subsequent comments make it sound like you already have it. Maybe the prior owner screwed with it?

What drivers do I have to install for Bitpim? At the moment I have the QPST drivers installed. Are there seperate ones for BitPim? If so, where do I get them?

I think your first issue is that your SaskTel Apache's MSL is not 111111. If it was then that code would work in QPST.

You use the same drivers for Bitpim as you do for QPST. You shouldn't rely on auto detection--always pull up the list of ports. Do you see the two Qualcomm ports?

Oh, and make absolutely certain that QPST (and any other PST apps) are not running on your PC when you open up Bitpim.

Although in any case, you should be safe buying the Verizon phone because all Verizon phones have a MSL of 000000 (you can google it if you don't believe me).

And I'm not sure about Canada's laws in this regard, but cloning an ESN is 100% illegal in the US, so be careful.

Bitpim still doesn't work, even when I choose the Qualcomm ports. For some reason it just can't connect.

also i dont know if u have evdo high speed internet where u are located but if u do with the cloned phone u will not be able to get evdo u will only be able to connect using 1x just a little fyi...

I don't know what else to tell you then, other than what I said before that if your intention is to get a Verizon XV6700, then its MSL and SPC are both 000000.

Thanks for your help. Found a good version of UniCdma that actually gives you the MSL/SPC, so any worries I had about not being able to find the code(s) are gone.

EDIT: For some reason UniCDMA only allows you to see and/or change the security code only _after_ having run QPST, for which you need the security code. :(

Not having EVDO isn't an issue for me. I never use the wireless CDMA internet anyways. 90% of the areas I'm in have good Wi-Fi access which negates the need for EVDO.

Just a thought. If i was to copy all of the files (.prl files etc.), including the extended rom from the current SaskTel apache I have, over to the new one, shouldn't the EVDO work?
