Error when restoring to Sprint ROM (801 error)
 

Hi all,

I recently got he APA_SPCS_20600_303_12700_WWE_Ship file for the Apache in order to restore from a cooked rom to the original Sprint one so I can recycle the phone. Now, I tried to run the file in Vista Ultimate and then in XP Pro (with activesync 4.5) and I am getting an error 801 cannot get data from phone. Anyone know why? Do I have to turn something on or off to fix this? Please let me know, I'm not having any luck using the search feature to find an answer, thanks.

I don't know what verison is right for your RUU, but try Jabu's thread. If on Vista shut off your USB Connections in Windows Mobile Device Center, which you also MUST have.

Well I got that version from Jabu's thread for Sprint and read through the thread. So, I'm assuming it's the right version. Also, I've been able to sync this phone with my vista PC for over a year now, so the settings (and WMDC) are correct). Could it be that since I'm running WM6.1, I cannot downgrade to WM5? Or something like that?

Try falshing a new ROM from the kitchen to see if the phone will take it ... If it will, then I'd point my finger at the integrity of the STOCK ROM ... Perhaps it's gotten corrupt or something ... I've got both APAC_SPCS_20600_300_11200 (44,472 Kb; MD5: 93DE385078BB2678FD8012318FE0C7A9) and APAC_SPCS_20600_303_12700 (44,796 Kb; MD5: 3976944950684FE88BC213BA8EDC652E) from both UTSTAR and SPCS ... I've had these since they were originally released ... Both of these SPCS ROMs can be downloaded from the Sprint site at http://support.sprint.com/doc/sp1309...revPageIndex=3

got it, thanks! I went back to my vista pc and then redownloaded it from the link you gave me and it eventually worked after a few tries, thanks
