Overclocking situations WM6.1 Helmi
 

Alright I know it sounds stupid but I've had my phone overclocked forever. Then it stopped connecting to WMDC 6.1 for Vista out of the blue. I removed the overclocking in the CDMA settings and it worked again. I tried them back on and it didn't work. So if I set if everything back to Voice 13k but didn't disable EVRC like the hack says. It feels the same as when EVRC was disabled. My question though is why is that a part of that hack. If nothing is using EVRC then why is it supposed to be disabled. Just a dumb question but something that seems interesting to me.

I suppose since it's a codec and codecs are programs (despite popular belief) it's possible that even though its not running unless in use that a service proggy runs in the background to fire it up quicker and disabling it prevents the service from running. The 13kbs Vocode is going to sound better than a 8k EVRC one anyway & I don't see how it could make that much of a difference in performance of the ppc. Interseting its breaking your wmdc though - are you sure that's what's causing it?

The codecs are searched when a connection is being established. Extra codecs a) slow the process down and b) sometimes match incorrectly.

True. And these codecs have my mystificed to some degree. I have voIP working with a Gizmo5 account, yet I can barely hear the caller. I've come to the conclusion that its a codec issue & even tried installing a GSM610 codec - but i'm not sure if that's even the one the voIP is using. Sure wish I could beat the (*#)(*# problem cause then the built-in voIP would be flawless here.
