MicroXP + Apache Kitchen

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to flash a new rom to my apache, but I only have access to a microXP running tower and am having a hell of a time trying to get Kitchen installed (or activesync 4.5 or windows installer 3.1...).
Has anyone been able to use a microxp running desktop for flashing roms or is this a futile undertaking?
Any tips?
