Storing camera pics on an SDHC card....memory error??

First off, I would like to thank you for all the hard work. I sent my Donation. It is well spent and well worth it. You have extended my phones life. Second, I have notice a lot of the bugs I had with 6 are gone.

I do have 2 that I cant seem to fix thou. It may be user error. When I tell my camera to save pictures to my 4 gb card I get an error there is not enough memory. I thought this was due to not having W5 on the system. With 6.1 I still cant. The other is that the new BT does not always detect my Plantronic 885. I have to play with it for a few mins. It gets to be a real pain. I have the BT tweak installed. any feedback would be great. Once again thank you for all the hard work. This is a great community here.

Forrest

Well since I have posted this I have re-flashed my phone 2 more times. I have found that when I leave the BT Tweak out of the ROM, I then don't have any issues. I still can't save my pictures to my memory card. If I can get some feedback, I would really appreciate this.

Re: Issue with BT and Memory. Maybe user error.

I believe your issue is that the SD card is actually too big. From what I recall, you have to fill more than half of the card with other stuff to get it to work correctly. It is something strange like this.

I am going to change the topic of this thread to hopefully help get someone that has seen this issue in here.

Thank you for your feedback Colonel. That is an interesting. I will try it out and see if that is the case. I am sure I have 2gb of useless files

Thank you

Re: Storing camera pics on an SDHC card....memory error??

Here's the deal with the SD card and the camera (at least, what it looks like to me). It appears to me that the camera app is using a 32 bit integer to get the free space on the disk before it tries to write to the disk. Well, the problem is that the largest positive value you can store in a 32 bit int is 2 gb, so if you have more than 2 gb free on the card the value wraps negative and obviously negative space isn't sufficient to store an image... I suspect that on a larger (6 to 8 gb card) having between 4 and 6 gb of free space would work as well as the size would wrap twice. I have an 8 gb card and will give this a try. So basically, you want less than 2 gb of free space or between 4 and 6 gb of free space and it should work

Re: Storing camera pics on an SDHC card....memory error??

I've had issues where I tried to set the storage device for the camera with a registry setting (without properly setting other keys).

To work around the issue without reflashing (fixing the key properly) I was able to set the camera to store to the phone then set it back to the sd card and it worked properly.
