Tethering issue

I loaded the latest Kitchen last night. Wow!! I am very happy with the result. It was easy to use. Only problem was I created a conflict and Contacts would not show up. Fixed that and it is much better that ever! Thanks to the developers.

On to my current issue.

I am trying to setup the phone as a modem on my desktop PC. I am running Vista. When the phone is plugged in the modem driver was automatically installed from Windows Update. Before the Kitchen install it was an HTC Modem. Today it installed as a Palm Treo Modem.

The Modem installs and Windows sees it. I can query it from the Properties screen and it responds perfectly. It will not connect from VZAccess or when trying to dial manually. VZAccess says device not connected. The strange thing is the Wizard found and installed it.

I used the Wireless Modem shortcut on the phone and double checked to make sure ActiveSync was off. The problem happened before the Kitchen upgrade so other than changing the name of the modem I don't think it has anything to do with the issue.

I tried to load the old driver that works on my XP Notebook PC but it is not recognized as a valid driver for the modem. I am not really sure what to do next. Any suggestions? My company is turning on Internet Filtering tomorrow and it would be great to use my phone to access the Internet when I need to go to a non-business related site, like this one.

Sorry, this shouldn't really be in the Upgrade section. Thought I was on level up and can't move it now.
