CAB with ringtones

I saw in one of the buildos threads where luv2chill (i think) made reference to building a CAB with ringtones in it. I would like to know how this is done. I would like to build a CAB with all my ringtones and one with all my sounds to install after I flash my phone. If I misread and this isn't possible please let me know. This would be awesome to be able to this. I would like detailed instructions if it is possible . Thanks for any help you can provide.

Why not just leave them in a "My Ringtones" folder on the extended rom? They won't take up ROM or storage space that way and you never have to touch them again. They'll just be there.

This is what I use for cab files..

Will there be a delay in ringing like I have if I set a ringtone from a file on my storage card.? If I set a ringtone from there it delays ringing by 3-5 seconds.

No.. Extended ROM is always there, unlike the storage card which loads up again each time the phone wakes up or resets. Read/Write speed is also the same as main memory because it's using the same media.

OK I made a folder named My Ringtones and put the files I wanted into the folder. They worked fine. However, I hide my extended rom so that my email attachment can be saved on my storage card instead of my phone which takes up too much space. When I hide the extended rom my ringtones are not visible anymore.

WinCE Cab Manager is a really easy application to use for building cab files. You most likely wont need instructions because most of it is self-explanatory.
On the other hand, why dont you just build the ringtones/sounds you want into the rom? There is already an oem called Additional Ringtones and Additional Sounds in the USER_OEM folder. Just drop your ringtones into the folder and edit the rgu to reflect the additional ringtones/sounds. The only real change to the rgu should be adding "TheNameOfRingtone.wma", under all of the others, you will know what i am talking about when you open the rgu. Just make sure that the rgu includes any ringtones you have added/removed and that you have commas after each entrys quotation marks (except the last one). This is also really easy to do, just open the rgu and you should be able to figure it out.

The main reason I have not added into ROM is to save the room for programs. Ringtones tend to eat up a lot of space so I wanted to do them post flash.

Unfortunately, it is not free, and furthermore it's exorbitantly expensive. I think the developer would see far less piracy if he sold it for $20 to hobbyists who are just making cabs for themselves. It is priced for developers who want to cab up their own software for sale--and for that use I think it is fairly priced. But for Joe Schmoe who's not using it to profit the price is way too much, IMHO.

You can make cabs using the microsoft command line tool makecab... I also think Visual Studio has a front-end if you have that. But those methods are more complicated than WinCE Cab Manager.

Anyway, this board doesn't promote warez, so if you're looking to pirate Cab Manager please don't ask for it here.

Asking if a program is free is not the same as saying Hey do you have a pirated copy I can have. I was simply asking if it was a free program. If I had seached (which I did after I posted duh) I would have seen it was $99. A bit overpriced for making a cab for ringtones so I guess the old trusty copy/paste will have to do.
