Ok, now for the serious answer.

A kitchen allows you to create your own custom rom. Many programs are included in the "kitchen" and you can just select what you want or don't want.

Programs like 1calc lite, or TCPMP or others are as simple as marking a check box. After you put together what you want on your custom rom, you flash it to your phone.

The best advantage to this is that you won't have to install these programs each time if you hard reset. The WM5 kitchen was rock solid and Verizonguy has a wm6 kitchen out already based on HelmiC's work.

Hope I have been helpful.

Ew...treo 650. They tried to give me one of those when my Apache was having issues. Glad you crossed over.

Just wanted to add some more information to what others have shared about kitchens.

Yep they do allow you to put in your own programs and modifications to the rom. Also, these programs, modifications, etc that you add into the rom do not actually take up your storage space. Putting programs into the rom allows you to take advantage of free space already allocated to the rom partition. So you're essentially not having to install cab files that take up your precious storage space
