Yeah, they're on whenever the backlight is on, otherwise they would be really hard to see.

Mine turn on in dark, off in light.. I think the sensor does it...

But regardless of the backlight on or off I believe its light n dark that triggers it, atleast tmobile version.....

Oh yeah, I guess you're right :)

For some reason I thought they were always lit up, but they're white and off when its light out, then they light up in dark (I covered it with my hand and they came on).
