Low sales numbers on Nexus One.

Was thinking it's thought to market a phone that really is only fully compatible with one national carrier as open and unlocked. Sure it can be used on AT&T but with access to EDGE at most for data.

Guess it will be different if they had a "world phone" version of this. I guess it's wait and see when the Verizon version becomes available. Wonder if it will be a world phone or just a CDMA version.

Hopefully they don't take too long to make this available. As they kill their on chances of really pushing and marketing the "Google Nexus One" with the advent of new 1.5 dual core CPU slated for end of year..

I think this way, wait 1-2 months ok, wait 3-4 months, what for if in 6 months it's old already and then in another few months it's even older?

Re: Low sales numbers on Nexus One.

20K units sold out of one store in one week has to be some kind of record!

Their new model seems to be a great way to increase profit margin, just not so sure it is overall more profitable. They pay actual developer cost for the phone, skip the major advertising campaign, bypass the normal retail channels AND get paid commissions/residuals for signing Tmobile contracts.

Also, Exclusive Tmobile resellers get higher payouts on contracts than retailers who sell other carrier's plans/products.

$300 profit per phone for 20K phones is 6 million dollars. Never mind the residuals from say 15000 $80/mo bills at 1.5% = $18000/mo. All of this is from one week of sales? I bet this launch has already more than paid for itself.
