Re: Tips: How to transfer contacts from windows mobile to windows phone 7

So, this is all fine and good, but what if you DON'T want all your contacts in "The Cloud"? What if all you want to do is sync Outlook contacts and tasks with your phone?

The answer is--there isn't a way . . .

WTH was Microsoft THINKING?!? This is a deal breaker for me, and from looking through numerous threads all over different forums, for MANY others as well . . .

WTH is with all the paranoia? if someone wants to access ur contacts and personal info they will even if its on the PC. the only way to stop it in that case is to unplug the PC from the internet. there IS an outlook connector that will sync the contacts to outlook from the cloud so its somewhat there. besides hardly anyone sits down at the PC and syncs their phone with outlook, its much more convenient to sync OTA via the cloud. and what IF your device gets stolen and u need to hard reset it to protect the info but once u get it back guess what? you have to wait till u get home to restore ur info but if u just have the cloud u simply login and everything is well again.

He's got a point.

I too, hate MS, Google, Apple, and everyone else spying on what I do and where I am, but unless you are going to set up shop with the Amish, you had better accept it or start to seriously group up and try to put an end to it via legal channels.

Just turning on your computer and putting it online you basically better be prepared to give all your personal info away.

I do wish there was a cloudless contact moving way though, just in case you don't have internet for some reason.

MyPhone does sync contacts/text to the Cloud, but MyPhone service doesn't have export option.

Microsoft Exchange. I just let the TP2 sit, put the credentials in new HTC Arrive and voila it worked no problem. Done two of these phones now.
