Windows 7 Mobile delayed to 2011

Posted on 12 January 2010 in CellPhones, News
Our sources confirmed the rumors. We won’t see Windows Mobile 7 until February 2011 when the World Mobile Congress gathers in Barcelona.
Representatives from Microsoft, Lenovo , Qualcomm, TI, Nokia , NVIDIA , HTC along with many other companies have agreed to delay Windows Mobile 7 until 2011 .Their goal is now Google’s Android along with the surprising operating system from Google : Chrome OS.
Windows Mobile 7

These changes of forces generated some sacrifices, one of them being that cell phone and smart books users have the alternative of choosing Android against Windows Mobile 7. This gets risky for Microsoft profits when anyone can choose from Windows XP/7 , Linux or simply adopt Google’s Android or Chrome OS.

Rumors coming from the market are constantly increasing the interest for the next mobile operating system from Microsoft, which promises to revolution the sense of the OS for a phone. In the avant-garde of this movement is HTC, the Taiwanese manufacturer that also was the first who took the responsibility to launch the world`s first phone powered by Google Android. In the Q2 or Q3 HTC plans to deliver on the market the first devices that will be powered by Window Mobile 7. The wait for the first smartphones powered by Windows Mobile 7 will probably make consumers to delay their plans to buy a device powered by Microsoft`s mobile OS.
For those who intend to buy anyway a smartphone based on Windows mobile, here is a recommendation: HTC HD2, powered by Windows Mobile 6.5, instead of waiting for a mediocre device that will be launched in Q1 or Q2 in 2010. With the soon arrival of Windows Mobile 7, questions will start to flow about how is going to work, how is going to look like, and if the product will satisfy daily needs in terms of productivity, entertainment and design.
The expectations are high, people expect more from this software since all they got are updates and fixed, but something that makes as to say: yeah this is a real OS made by Microsoft.

Windows Mobile 6.6 and 7 To Make An Appearance At MWC 2010

Posted on 22 January 2010 in News, Software
There are lots of rumors regarding Microsoft and the upcoming Windows Mobile 7 software, and a few days ago I said in a post that the Redmond-based company has done a great job in managing to draw more attention than Apple’s Tablet, probably launching on January 27th. I say this is good marketing and Microsoft is beating Apple at its own game as now we’re back with more details coming from reliable sources. Microsoft is expected to release Windows Mobile 6.6 and unveil WinMo 7 at MWC 2010, next month.
Windows Mobile 6.6 should be pushed to all WinMo phones immediately after its unveiling, while Windows Mobile 7 will be previewed and scheduled for a September 2010 release. DigiTimes claims that Microsoft is working with Samsung, LG, HTC, ASUS, Toshiba, and Acer at WinMo 7-powered smartphones, and the first devices based on the new OS will be the rumored LG Apollo and HTC Obsession.
Even though Windows Mobile 7 will be released sometime in September 2010, the first WM7 devices will become available in late Q4 2010 or early 2011. At first, the Windows Mobile 7-based handsets will be delivered to the US and European markets, while the Asian consumers will get the phones sometime in 2011.
Nothing surprising here and nothing knew as well, and although sources say that Windows Mobile 7 will feature a new UI, improved browsing, enhanced multimedia playback, and that it will support Silverlight, Zune, and Xbox Live, we already knew that. The Mobile World Congress 2010 event is near and we’re anxiously waiting to open its doors. If I were Microsoft, I’d release WinMo 7 ASAP, until it’s not too late.

Motorola To Release WinMo 7-based Caesar Soon, Windows Mobile 7 Beta Already Out?

Posted on 04 September 2009 in CellPhones, News, Software
Previously we’ve said that Microsoft has the worst plans for Windows Mobile, and it looks like they want to kill the mobile platform. We already know that Windows Mobile 7 is in the making, but we didn’t know that it already reached the beta phase. Meanwhile Windows Mobile 6.5 is coming on October 6th, and Motorola is now focusing on Google Android OS, rather than Microsoft’s platform. The connection between all of these? Well, Motorola is not totally dumping WinMo, in fact a so-called Caesar features Windows Mobile 7, and it should be available sometime in Q2 2010.
Although it has been reported that Microsoft will release WinMo 7 in late 2010, a software engineer at Motorola has posted on his LinkeIN account that he joined the Caesar product development with Windows Mobile 7.0 beta as runtime environment. Thing is that the product must comply to the Chassis 1 requirements meaning that it has to feature a big touchscreen, and a lot of processor power. So this means that Motorola is preparing a very fast WinMo 7-based touchscreen smartphone that is coming sometime before the summer of 2010.
Is this real? We sure hope it is. Earlier we’ve been talking about the competition between the iPhone OS, Symbian, BlackBerry, and Android, but how could we have forgotten Windows Mobile? This is just getting better and better and the consumers are the ones who will gain the most.
