The GPU Is Iphone's biggest strength. I am always telling guys that eventhou it lack on some aspect, It replaces it with a powerful GPU. 133 Million polygons per second. I think that's a fair trade. And Sony wants to build their PSP like that.
ANd here's one more example. PS1's Wipeout xl Using Ijoypad. It runs amazingly smooth.
