Activesync automatically configures "My Work Network"

I was wondering if someone could explain this to me and maybe suggest a solution.
I sync my HTC TouchPro with my work computer using Activesync for contacts, appointments, notes & favorites (Outlook 2003). In Settings-> Conections->Tasks tab, there are two entries: "NETWORK" and "My Work Network". Network is set up for Data over a cellular connection. At work, I use a proxy server to access the internet. When I use activesync, it configures the "My Work Network" to connect to the internet using the same proxy server my work computer uses. This sounds reasonable. The problem is that when that connection is configured and I've unplugged the USB cable, other software that connects to the internet, can't connect unless I go in and disable this connection. Also, I've used Advance Config 3.3 to set data connect to disconnect after 1 minute to save battery but it can't disconnect when this connection is enabled. I don't know if there is a conflict or it just doesn't know what to do when there are two connections configured. If I don't remember to manually disable this connection after synchronizing my phone, it will kill my battery.
Anybody know how to prevent this from happening?

TIA,
Vlip3
