PPC Camera As Mouse
I know that it might be choppy, I have a 6700, is there any way to use it as an optical mouse? With the extended battery on it there is enough light to have it face down, but still see the surface, and then a couple buttons could be on screen, or hardware to simulate the mouse clicks. How hard would this be? I have absolutely no coding skills so its not something that i could make, but would anyone else be interested in this?
Thanks, Bigsniperboy |

Along same lines, camera could be used to simulate accelorometer on older devices if such a driver/program could be written...

Re: PPC Camera As Mouse
This technique is actually used on the Samsung Instinct to navigate the web browser and it works quite well. Its all in the coding though and I would imagine it would be rather difficult.

Re: PPC Camera As Mouse
I seem to recall seeing programs that turn, say a touch pro, into an "air mouse"
not sure if it worked on wifi or bt but it would seem really neat in some instances although I do have a really cool keyboard with trackball mouse for being able to sit back on the couch and enjoy the net on a 42 inch plasma |
Re: PPC Camera As Mouse
Using the camera sounds cool, but I don't know that I would want to be sliding the back of my phone around on my desk. Even with Invisishield on it.
Here's a link to the GRemote post over at XDA. There are a couple of different functions that are included. The "air mouse" is one as well as a touch pad setup. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427097 |

I'm with the Coach, I wouldn't want my device sliding around all the time.

Re: PPC Camera As Mouse
Ive got an old 6700 so i wouldn't mind it sliding around on my desk. Unfortunately the air mouse wouldnt work because i dont have an accelerometer. I was wanting to use this mainly when i go off to college, i dont want to carry a mouse with me for my laptop, and i dont like using the little touch pad on a laptop.
