Exclamation Gmail sms

Is there any way to check my gmail messages though sms. I don't have a data plan on my phone, and i don't want to forward all my messages to my number.messages.carrier.com. I just want to be able to send a message to google and then it reply back with all of the new headers. Also, would it be possible to send an email from my gmail using sms, instead of it being delivered from number.messages.carrier.com.

Thanks,
Bigsniperboy

Send a message via MSN to Geekcop
Re: Gmail sms

Just pulling this out of my ***, but I don't think you can send an email via SMS. I would think that the 160 character limit might have something to do with that. If anyone knows better, please throw your $.02 in

Re: Gmail sms

On alltel it lets me send emails through the text messages account, it just uses one text off of my plan. but it shows up as from number.messages.alltel.com
Thanks,

Re: Gmail sms

I don't know if this helps but I have copies of my mail sent to yahoo who in turn sends me an sms of new mail. You have to set this up at yahoo.com of course. If its important I can send an email message to the address through sms. It worked out ok for me. Not the easiest but it does work especially if you are trying to avoid a data plan.
