Unable to directly open an MP3 file

I've been using Media Player to load up all the songs on my card into the playlist. As far as the registry is concerned (I've checked), the program is able to properly associate the file extention. However, I can't open an MP3 through something that isn't a player (which unfortunately includes the ringer selection screen). I instead get the following message: "The file '[INSERT_NAME_HERE]' cannot be opened. Either it is not signes with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."

The icon for the file looks like a sheet of paper with the Windows logo on it, which I'm assuming means the open function isn't associated with any particular application. Any idea on how to fix this?

--Thanks

Re: Unable to directly open an MP3 file

Have you installed any other music or video player software? My thought is another program is messing with the file associations. I know there's an app the you can install to tell which files to assign to open with which apps. Do a search for 'file association' and you should be able to find it.
