Pasword Protected Excel File on WM6.1??

I have one password Excel file that has been on many earlier Windows Mobile / Pocket PC devices. It was readable on earlier version of the OS. I would like to have the security of Password Protection on my new HTC Touch Pro with MW6.1 and read this file. Obviously, I can remove the password on my desktop Vista Machine, but I do not like knowing that this information can be read by anyone who would find a lost storage card. Is there any way I can keep password protection on my Excel file and read it on WM6.1? Thanks, David

Re: Pasword Protected Excel File on WM6.1??

WM 6.1 has encryption called .MENC built into it

this locks the SD card so it can ONLY be read on the device that the encryption was created on. WARNING: If the device is Hard Reset/Cold Booted, the encryption keys will be permanently deleted and cannot be retrieved to decrypt the card!

My personal experience; read before encrypting

Thanks Meanfishy for a good idea. Where do I find out more about the encryption called .MENC built into WM6.1? Can I encrypt only one file? How do I turn it on and off. I use Exchange server, so I can remotely erase my Outlook data, therefore I do not have to use entry password for WM6.1. I only have two private items. The Contact List which I believe is protected by Exchange server and one Excel File that has my Passwords for all other systems included. Any additional suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

here is the link;

NOTE: the post at the bottom of the page ONLY works if you have Sprite on your device BEFORE you do encryption and then you can only view the encryption files on said device
