Acronyms

Ok, I've searched.. Would it be a possibility to start a thread, maybe even make it a "sticky" on Acronyms? I'm a complete idiot I guess. I read these different threads, getting some great infomation, and some have me baffled due to the stuff that most know but some don't. Good idea or not???

Thanks in Advance,
Kc

Didn't mean to bring out the vulgarities :shock:

Just a FEW examples then:
VOIP
NOOB
VCF
PRL
ROM

Now, these are just a few that I have no idea what they mean. To ME, and I'm sure a few other "newbies" to this type of technology, this idea would be helpful.
Coz, I'm sorry to offend you with the "stupid" idea.

Hey KC...lighten...I'm just messing with you...it's all good my brotha!

VOIP=Voice-Over-Internet Protocol...voice conversations over the internet

NOOB=someone who is new to something

VCF=Visual Component Framework...but there are a few others out there.

PRL=Preferred Roaming List...The PRL indicates which bands, sub bands and service provider identifiers it should accept. Without a PRL, your phone may not be able to roam, i.e. obtain service outside of your home area.

ROM=Read-only memory...storage media on your device.

Coz, Glad I did mis-read you on your first post. Didn't want to start off on a "bad note". Thanks for your response though!!!

I think in our contect VCF refers to the ability of sending your contact card as a file, the file extension is VCF, I just can't remember what VCF stands for.

AS = ActiveSync
PA = PhoneAlarm

What else? So many I don't really remember them...

VCF -- VCard File, where Vcard is short for Virtual Card :)

some others in my head --
sms -- short message service (text messaging)
mms -- multi media service (picture mail)

Uhhh, any others? feel free to ask or chime in...!

IMHO "in my humble opinion" or IMO "in my opinion" for this times when you don't really care what people think about your opinion. :) kcman I made this same suggestion a long time ago but it never went anywhere so I still think this could be useful IMHO :D
