Orb and MPEG2 Codec(s)

Just thought I'd post a question over here since there are quite a few Orb users on here.

For some reason XP doesn't seem to see that I have any MPEG2 decoders installed. Niether Orb, XP's video decoder checkup utility, nor Sherlock 2.0 sees that any MPEG2 codecs are installed.

The problem is that I've installed every MPEG2 codec I could get my hands on and have restarted multiple times, but nothing ever changes.

I had Orb installed a couple months ago and had a 1/2 dozen codecs installed, but have recently reformatted my PC about a month ago; hence why I'm perplexed why a very similar setup doesn't work.

Does anyone have a clue as to what may be happening?

I didn't install any mpeg codecs, and my orb2.0 install works fine and streams mpeg video fine. It's the dscaler that you need, not the decoder. What issue are you having with it?

Exactly that, I don't even have the default dscaler codec installed even though I've installed the latest Orb 2 version (2.00.0867). When I go to Configuration->Advanced->Codecs, there is nothing listed, not even dscaler.

I have uninstalled and even used Orb's clean-up program afterwards, then re-installed Orb 2 and still nothing shows up. Since XP can't see any of these codecs either, I'm thinking there is something in XP itself that is wrong. I just have no clue where to look.... :?:

yeah that is weird... did you try posting over on the orb forums?

Mine was installed into XP, latest patches, etc, not much else in it - it was an xp/vmware install just to run orb.

Yeah I posted on the orb forums, but I've posted and have seen how much response I have seen from other people's questions...not much. So thought I'd ask here as well since PPCGeeks seems a little more helpful.

Also, I'm not sure what to expect since it worked before and it seems more like a windows problem at this point.
