Bluetooth passkey (PIN)

ok so I just bought a bluetooth adapter from best buy for my laptop, now it finds my phone fine but when I click connect a window pops up saying "Bluetooth Passkey (PIN):" and I dont know what to enter???

if I enter random numbers (like 0000) my phone asks if if it wants to add my computer to the device list and I click yes and then it pops up with "passcode" then I enter the same thing and it says access denied on the computer end

this is driving me crazy!

what model and brand. A quick google search should yeild a result, or it should say in the owners manual

No he said he entered random numbers LIKE 0000. I had to say it, four 0's is what all mine are. Thanks for the correction.

thanks for the correction. mine are all 0000 also. but for the kensington bluetooth adapter, mine doesn't even need a code and it works. so i'm not sure what's wrong

Re: Bluetooth passkey (PIN)

from what i read, you should be able to use just a random number for the first time. IF all else fails take it to Best Buy and have them install for you, could be a return or a defective piece of equipment.

Re: Bluetooth passkey (PIN)

ok so I cant set up a partnership really but if my bluetooth is on on my phone I can right click files and send them to it that way, not exactly the method I was hoping for but it works, I just dont understand why I need a passcode on both ends, seems odd to me
