Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

I have been looking for a way to be able to greatly reduce my cell phone bill. I did a search on Youtube and found this video which explains how to make pretty close to free calls anywhere in the world.
http://futurephones.tv/
You put this device on your network at home and then you can call it with your mobile phone and it gives you a dial tone!!! It then proceeds to use VOIP or something to call whatever number you want. There is a small charge per minute like .02 cents in the USA. But the device costs $200!!! Has anyone had any experience with this or have another way to make calls for free.
Years ago, I used to have my analog cell phone call a certain number and it would call me back with a dial tone where i could dial out for cheap.
There has to be a way to call your computer and use your home phone to either call you back with a dial tone or do a three way call and conference you in to who you need to call.

I have Sprint, so, if I could say, have an automated text message i can send my computer which has the number i need to call. My computer would then call me back and wheni answer, it would conference me into the number i texted it

OR maybe i can call my computer and let it ring twice so my computer can recognize my caller id. Then i can hang up and wait for the Incoming phone call which then would let me dial any number needed. Maybe when i was finished with the first call and needed to make a new call, instead of doing the procedure again, i could hit the Pound# button and it would reset ready for me to dial again.

Sorry to rant, I guess i could have spent hours arranging my thoughts in a more precise manor... Any ideas peeps...... i hate sending Sprint $120 a month!!!!

Re: Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

I looked at the site..and just kept thinking....if you call the box....you are using your anytime min, then you get a dial tone for the use of network (voip)..but you are still connected using your anytime min..that is the way I look at it...but I could be wrong.

I think this is for people who dont have long distance or a international calling plan, which add up to a very high bill, then this service would be a very good deal.

For instance the guy in the video called London...for .04 a min..using his anytime min via the box (voip)..vice..calling international straight which would be in the dollars a min using anytime min.

So no matter what you are still going to use up your anytime mins. so if you make alot of long distance/internatioinal calls which are not part of your calling plan, go for it.

Another thing...if you are calling local and you call the box for a local call it will cost you .02 instead of being part of your anytime mins. <---get where I am going with this.

Just my .02 <----Ha Ha I made a funny

Re: Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

but, what if you had a cell phone company that you could add that number to your "favorite 5" like Charles Barkley then, it wouldnt cost a thing would it?

Re: Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

well the number to the box would be like a mobile to mobile....but using the box would be .02 every call in the US of course.

It still might be cheaper...example 1000min x .02= $20.00
I think...you need a $40.00 above plan for free fav5 or else it is $5.00
So lets say..it is total...60 plus 10 for taxes more or less 70 which is way cheaper then the 120.

Here is the price plans for Sprint..like always going to a very limited plan..will make you also have limited to no options unless you add them.

Re: Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

Scenario:

Assume the following:
Free calls to home mobile plan
VOIP home phone (Vonage free long distance unlimited calling)
Computer with modem

Application:
A person wants to call 404-555-3232
He would Call "home" number using mobile phone.
His Computer's Modem answers phone
He then enters 404-555-3232 on mobile
Computer "flashes the line" calls 404-555-3232 then flashes again to do a three way call

Result:
Person with free calls to home is not charged mobile minutes to call 404-555-3232

Problem:
How to get a modem to do this

Re: Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

If you just want to make free unlimited calls anytime to anyone in the US from your mobile phone. Just use the voicemail trick on sprint

or you can use the grandcentral trick. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24644 (ps not trying to promote my thread or anything just happend that the topic has to do with this thread topic).

Also if you wanted to call international with your mobile. You can also just use Gizmo project which is a free Voip service set it up on your mobile with a softphone. The provide free incoming calls but have prepaid rates for calling out. Their rates are pretty close if not cheaper for certain countries than the device. Since Voip uses data if you have unlimited data sprint won't charge you for the call.

Re: Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

If you want to save on your sprint bill go to sprintusers.com and find out how to get on sero.. This might entail "cheating" or having to make a friend that works for sprint...

I have 1250 anytime mins, unl weekends and nights starting at 7, mobile to mobile, unlimited data, text, and picture mail, and basic sprint tv for 49.99 with my additional discounts its about 41.00 plus tax..

You might wanna try skype that makes calls on ya ppc's internet connection so it wont use any mins.. I havent heard of anyone who said that it works great on my phone the mogul so I never tried it.. But I did put it on my brothers 6700 like a year ago and it was good for the few mins we tried it

Re: Free Calls from Cell Phone Questions

dont know if he is talking about the placing 11 before the called number trick...what it does is the call goes straight to v-mail and the person phone never rings.
