sycing with my pc

just bought my mogul of a friend yesterday and am having trouble syncing it with my pc, i downloaded active sync and hooked up my usb cable to my phone and the computer and nothing happens.

idd ur friend try to customize it or hack into it??? because mostly for this reason he downloaded a program that either deleted active sync or replaced it with someting else i recommend going into ur service provider and a: ask for a new phone or b: have someone help u with it

he didnt do anything to it, i click on the active sync icon on my computer and it works fine then when i plug in my phone it says nothing is found

On you phone, Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC. Uncheck the box and then plug it in.

I tried that i even took off active sync off my computer then reinstalled it and when i hook it up to my phone it says no connection found

Have you soft reset your device?

Also try restarting your computer.

how do i soft reset my device? will it delete all my ringtones and contacts if i do though?

Take your stylus and poke the little hole in the bottom. It will not erase anything, as it is akin to restarting your computer.
