Re: Unlocking phone

It allows you to add a custom rom, or operating system, onto your PPC. That way instead of using Sprint's rom you can use a rom that suites you better. Whether you want a clean rom with nothing on it or if you would rather have a device packed full of goodies.

Re: Unlocking phone

Usually "unlocking" refers to GSM phones, where you can swap in a different SIM card and use them with a different carrier.

With pocket pc's you can unlock the ext rom (totally different thing) for additional storage.

Re: Unlocking phone

The unlock code has to do with unlocking it for other carriers. However with CDMA this is not currently possible due to the lack of SIM cards. There is talks of both Sprint and Verizon allowing other carrier phones onto their network in the future, however they would have to write their own software for the phone to make provisioning possible. You can find more information on this via google I am sure. Just thought I would clarify.

Re: Unlocking phone

What you got was your MSL code. With that you can access the programming menus, which can allow you to update your PRL manually, among other things.
