Phone recommendations for tethering use only

Ok, I have 2 Sprint SERO plans, one 1250 & the other 500 that was used by an ex. Now that the 500 SERO plan is not being used, I've decided to use it for internet access only.

I am moving into a rural area, and there is no DSL or CABLE access and my only options are ATT, Sprint, or HughesNET. Sprint is the obvious choice but it's a huge step back from the 20 Mbps that I see now.

Now, which phone do you recommend that would be good for only tethering use? I used my old Touch Pro last year, and it had it's share of problems. The phone would get hot where the battery would not charge until the phone cooled down (sometimes I had a fan next to it). I lived a few blocks from the Sprint tower and had an excellent signal, but when I would use the phone for tethering, it would disconnect frequently at random times. It was rather annoying when I was downloading files.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Phone recommendations for tethering use only

I have use tethering ever since the Apache...so far the best luck I had with tethering was the TP2...while all device except Apache(since I used usb and not wifi) had heat issues when charging + tethering..the best one was the TP2..while the TP2 does get hot its not as bad and the worse I had to do was place it on a metal surface..the others needed a fan, metal surface didn't cut it...

So TP2 is my suggestion for you.

And if your not in a hurry...I expect TP2 prices to drop come Oct 1st >.>

Awesome, thanks for your input.

I may go ahead and try to find a cheap, used TP2 for my other line. I'm eligible for an upgrade on both of my phones in mid October, and I think I am going to go with the HTC EVO 4G for my main line.
