OMG Newbie needs help
 

My Uncle gave me his old HTC HD (Telstra Branded) running 6.1 Its not carrier locked but is "Infected" with Telstra stuff.

I would like to upgrade it to 6.5 but have no Idea where to start or where I can get a cooked rom from .

I found a tute on flashing the 1.56 roms on XDA developers but the more I read the more confused I become. There is soooooo much information on here I am suffering from information overload and I cant seem to find a really basic step by step guide or where to download the cooked roms from all the links I follow are broken. I dont even see the HTC HD in the phones. Is it compatable with the HD2

Its very frustrating for a newbie!!


Can someone please give me a leg up!

OKAY NEWBIE ... HERE GOES ... STAY WITH ME ..

1. YOU NEED TO UNLOCK YOUR PHONE IF IT IS NOT ALREADY UNLOCKED ... YOU WILL NEED TO SEARCH FOR AN UNLOCKER FOR YOUR DEVICE .. YOU MAY NEED TO HARD SPL YOUR PHONE, FIND THE UNLOCK CODE, IT CAN BE A COMPLICATED PROCESS BUT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A STEP BY STEP... A GOOD READ IS THE ONE POSTED BY TOBEYCHRIS .. YOU CAN ALSO TRY YOUTUBE FOR A STEP BY STEP VIDEO.

2. ONCE YOUR PHONE IS UNLOCKED YOU CAN FLASH ANY CUSTOM ROM YOU WANT TO IT ...

Every little bit helps.

I have unlocked it and loaded the new HSPL on it (1.56.OliNex) I haope it the right one.

Now which cooked rom do you suggest (Now there is the million dollar question)

Its not a Brick YET!!!

This is scary sh^t !!!!
