Could not find the last key -- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Setting s\OEM\SMSInboxThreadingDisabled -- got as far as OEM. There were no other keys under OEM and the only values under OEM were:
SMSEnableCallback = 1
SMSEnablePriority = 1

Re: LG Fathom ArcSoft client removal...

ArcSoft Powermobia Message website lists the following feature:

Thread message mode (optional feature), list, create, send and receive all SMS and MMS in one conversation for each contact

So maybe threading in Arcsoft Powermobia Message 5.5.11.34 is possible? Just a matter of finding out what the right setting / registry key is and setting it?

I've made a post on the Arcsoft General forum... we'll see if there's any response.

Re: LG Fathom ArcSoft client removal...

Has anyone had any luck on removing the ArcSoft POS?? You all atleast still seem to be able to get text messages through tmail.exe... I can't even do that. If I add a recipient via contact in Powermobia, it attachs a birthday instead of a phone number. I have a reg editor. Does anyone know even how to get SMS in tmail if it's not there? I'm so frustrated I think I could cry.

The best I can tell so far, is that Arcsoft does not use its own unique file names for its own files, and change the registry appropriately to its unique file names. Instead, Arcsoft uses Microsoft's file names for its own files, and therefore, deletes/removes/overwrites the original Microsoft files.

My guess so far, is that to get rid of Arcsoft, one will need to find copies of all the original Microsoft files (the WM 6.5.3 versions). Possibly use those Microsoft files to build a .cab that will overwrite the Arcsoft files (turn-about is fair game) when installed.

Talking Re: LG Fathom ArcSoft client removal...

There is an update available to go from vs750zv4 to vs750zv5 from the LG website either here:
http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/v...are-update.jsp as "LGMobileUpdate.exe" at 250KB
or here:
http://www.lg.com/us/support/mc-supp...ne-support.jsp as "B2CAppSetup.exe" at 246KB

I chose to use the LGMobileUpdate.exe

Windows 7 x64

Before:
START/SETTINGS/ABOUT
CE OS 5.2.23103 (build 23103.5.3.3)

START/SETTINGS/SYSTEM/SYSTEM INFORMATION
Windows Mobile 6.5 5.2.23103
Apr 7, 2010
HW Rev 1.0
SW Version VS750ZV4
PRL 51920
ERI 5

MESSAGING
ArcSoft Powermobia Message 5.5.11.34

Installed the LG Mobile Update.exe which installed a bazillion LG USB drivers

Ran the LG Mobile Support Tool and chose to update but it said the phone was already at the latest version. Closed it out.

Ran LG Mobile Support Tool again and chose to update. It saw the phone and the Update button was now reddish. Chose to Update. It tried to install even more drivers-- notably:

LGE CDMA Composite USB Device (Ready to Use)
LGE CDMA USB Modem (Failed)
LGE CDMA USB Serial Port (COM10) (Ready to Use)

Finally the update proceeded

After:
START/SETTINGS/ABOUT
CE OS 5.2.23121 (build 23121.5.3.6)

START/SETTINGS/SYSTEM/SYSTEM INFORMATION
Windows Mobile 6.5 5.2.23121
Jul-5-2010
HW Rev 1.0
SW Version VS750ZV5
PRL 51920
ERI 5

MESSAGING
ArcSoft PowerMobia Message 5.5.11.50

Still exploring to see what else is different; didn't really keep track of any other version numbers to compare, so if anyone else is going to upgrade, try to jot down what your current version apps are.

The General tab of the PowerMobia Message does have an option for Threaded Inbox (YAY!) we'll see how it looks when I accumulate enough messages (too bad WinMo does not save SMS when syncing)... hopefully they fixed the friggin PowerMobia send from contacts bug where it was stuffing birthdates into the To: field

Re: LG Fathom ArcSoft client removal...

I'm not sure if the CDMA/GSM Services settings stay after a rom upgrade, but I set my GPS to location on so that i can use it in v4, and it seemed to have stayed on or maybe v5 turns it on by default now?
also did it group office mobile 2010 in a folder before?

Yea, in V4, the office program shortcuts are in a folder, but the folder has a special office icon instead of the standard folder icon.

Also, V4 has Office Mobile 2007 (aka 6.1). Can you please confirm that V5 does indeed have Office Mobile 2010?

Re: LG Fathom ArcSoft client removal...

interestingly ebough i just discovered that my lg fathom bo longer uses arc soft and now uses the default windows one with threaded texts
iit for some reason creates a thread with my number that has all the sent txt msgs and doesnt have contact names but their phone number bu this is still a lot faster than arcsoft
the message chome goes to windows threaded msgs now and if i were to find a contact and send message it uses windows new message thing

im not sure what i did that made this happen as i hadnt been directly trying to get it working but it may have something to do with restoring my messages using spb backup with or without overwriting but i remember that it used arcsoft for a while after words

also perhaps it had something to do with installing chinese fonts

though i really only found it after going through each mail account i had and all of a sudden all of my sms msgs were there
in "secureMSGstorage"
oh and i installed skype for winmo
speak of the devil it somehow reinstated itself after pressed reply after a sms notification popped up
