Dopod 838 pro
 

Hi just got a dopod as a gift from a relative but found it is wm5. can anyone suggest how to upgrade this and to what version of WM. Thanks:)

You have to upgrade it from 5th version to 6th. First, you won’t get any support from your device provider if something goes wrong. Secondly, you might lose some pre-installed applications. And lastly, you’ll have to find the firmwares online and some of them are homemade concoctions which don’t always work, so be careful and do some reading before you go ahead with this.

thanks maxdakoata for the reply. i tried to load spl v7 on the device but failed. i clicked next next on the screens after reading what was written but at the end some exception occured and upgrade was unsuccessful. the message generted was

make sure your microsoft .net framework is up to date and run the unlocker from the desktop.

Yes sure installed .net3.5, .net cf ran unlocker v3a then smoothly installed darkvisions v5 final. everything went fine. thanks mate

Also you may have to execute it with Administrative privileges on your computer.
