Can't Sync WMDC, States "Not Connected" HELP??

Hi, I recently picked up an HTC Touch Pro 2, (T-Mobile), I have been attempting to connect to my PC via WMDC, but I get NOTHING in the WMDC at all. I can upload and download files to my microSD cards without any problem. I have gone to the help files and followed the "fixes" stated but still WMDC still states "Not Connected" or whatever it states indicating there is no device plugged in to the mini usb cable. I have tried turning my virus protection, firewall and popup-spyware apps off and still I am at a loss. I have done some reading through some threads because I want to flash to WinMob 6.5 and I see there are some very smart people in these forums, can someone help me with this?

when you connect your phone to the computer, are you choosing Activesync on the menu that pops up on the phone screen?

Nothing pops up on the screen; the only activity would be the phone/microSD card displaying a drive letter other than that I get nothing.

Oh wait I just realized what you were referring too, yes I have also done that, but it seems to have no effect on the phone or WMDC, I re-installed WMDC and I still can't seem to have the phone show up in WMDC.

sometimes wmdc does not automatically open like it should. have tried opening it, then connecting the phone? you can also go to your USB to PC settings, on your phone, and unchecking the box under Activesync.

I've trying to get this connected and it seems I just can't get the driver installed for the Windows Portable Network devices, every time I tried to installed I get an error msg #10 whatever that is, I tried disconnecting my Magic Jack telephone equip thinking that was interferring but it doesn't seem to be the problem, cuz it does the same thing with or w/o. damn this thing is really driven me nuts.....

Now I am a bit more confused than before. I wa reading something that said to change a setting on the phone at start>settings>connections>usb to PC> so I uncheck speeds up link to pc or something like that, I reconnect the phone and something begins o install, now the thing completes successfully so I'm psyced, turns out that it installed PocketPC USB sync instead of the network adapter that keeps failing to install completely or correctly.....aagghhh!!!

Re: Can't Sync WMDC, States "Not Connected" HELP??

I've experienced the same thing on a number of occasions now. I've gone through every fix and quite often still no joy, uninsstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled and scoured the registry for entries to delete.... etc. In the end I always end up hard-resetting my phone and then it works. It's obviously a pain to hard reset as you (a) need to make sure everything important is backed up and (b) you have to reinstall everything, but it will probably be much quicker in the long run than trying to work out what has gone wrong with WDMC.

One of the main problems is often if you don't consistently use the same USB port when you sync - something screws up in WDMC's profiles. So if hard-resetting gets it working, make sure you use the same usb from then on (and often best if it's one at the back of the computer rather than a front one).

Hope you sort out your problems - I know how annoying it is.

Cheers,

Ian
