So there is a way to unlock using the 6.15.00 baseband, you can update this using redsn0w, I'll update my main thread this week on it. I need to add the 6.15 baseband just remember its irreversible.

Or use SnowBreeze to build CFW to restore (will erase data) & retain the 5.12.01 (source)

yeah but I want to update the firmware to 4.2 (highest it can get) without messing w/ baseband...

btw did you ever find anything on iPod Touch 2G w/2.2.1? maybe just update it to 4.2 and then jailbreak? :)

Highest u can do a 3g is 4.1

iPod Touch 2G also has 4.2.1

plus when I connect them iTunes shows an update for 4.2 available for both...

yeah sorry I meant 4.2.1, you cannot get the 4.3+ updates on a 3G.

Don't update past 4.0.2 if you need an unlock unless you want to use the 6.15.00 firmware for now, except there is a safe way to update it.

I am going to update my thread with all of this this week. If you want to edit my thread go ahead and we can work on it together, otherwise I'll just handle it.
