OK all you ippcgeekers who have been hammering away telling me why the iphone is so awesome combined with me getting an insanely awesome deal have finally resulted in me getting an iphone :headbang:


I also got a g1 and looking for a gsm winmo to complete the trifecta.

but I don't know to to unlock 3.1.3 !!

how do I do this without bricking my new 3G iphone? anyone know pleez respond.

I was researching the same thing, they said they have a way to jailbreak it, however, they aren't going to release it because iphone OS 4.0 is coming out soon.

If they release a jailbreak now, than Apple will block it when 4.0 comes out which will delay a 4.0 jailbreak, so they are just holding tight until the new OS is out.

Just unlock it using the 3.1.2 jailbreak. There isn't much of a difference in 3.1.3

When was 3.1.3 released? I have 3.1.2 and because I need it unlocked and jailbroken I will not be updating. However, it was not long after the update that blackra1n had a jailbreak available and shortly thereafter the ability to unlock. Just give it a little bit of time and I'm sure it will be taken care of. I see no reason why the anticipation of iPhone OS 4.0 release would inhibit developers from releasing an unlock/jailbreak for this software version.

true enough, I think 3.1.3 was released a few weeks ago, not sure.

i jailbroke 3.1.3 last night and downgrded to 3.1.2 but couldnt unlock the phone because she had done a official upgrade via itunes and that upgraded her bootrom(it could be called bootloader) 6.04 and so far that cannot be unlocked or downgraded!! if someone has found a way to unlock or downgrade to 5.80 please post or pm me!!

firmware is the os goto settings>general>about and scroll to verison!
for ur bootloader i use a program from cydia serching called fuzzyband!!

I thought it had to be jailbroken to use cydia? if not, how to I install cydia?

ur right u do have to be jailbroken to use cydia!! well all i did was rebuilt a ipsw(3.1.2) for a 3gs with blckrain cooked in and restored it via itunes (shift + tap restore )

google is ur best frined!(no pun intended) im new to this to but my google-fu is impeckable!!

on topic the reson u cannot unlock ur iphone 3gs with a offical update via itunes is because that update also includes baseband 5.12.01 and bootloader 6.04 whice at this time cannot be unlovked or downgraded!!

however u can still jailbreak the device and downgrade ur os firmware!!

my "modem firmware" is 5.12.01. this means I can't unlock it for Tmo yet right?

I know but there are SO MANY things in google I'm worried if I try the wrong thing I'll brick it, I tend to trust PPCGers more.

so far thats correct u cannot unlock yet!! now i have someones 3gs and all they call do is use it as a touch ! thats what they get for not following my directions(and updating even tho i told them not to)

well I guess I have an ipod touch till they release the unlocker for me, I guess I can go ahead and jailbreak it and download some apps and use wifi on it till i can unlock it. It's a very good condition 8/10 3G 16GBs I got from someone for $250 so I'm still pretty pleased with my purchase even though the baseband was updated.

check THIS out im reseaching this now to see if its a way to get this working i contacted the seller but im waiting for a respondce!!

i put the wrong link and i lost it!! i had the link for turbo sim!! its said to just bypass the carrier lock all together!! its a quick fix until the software unlocker for bootloader 6.04 comes out

i think im just going to trade with someone with an 8gig 3G 3.1.2, it looks pretty hopeless to unlock this thing and 8gigs is enough for me.


unless you know of any way to unlock this thing. cuz im not paying out the ass for att.

I wouldnt be too worried about bricking it. Almost anything you break can be fixed using the restore button in itunes.

3.1.3 can be jailbroken (I jailbroke my wife's after it was updated 3.1.3). Using RedSn0w or something, you must use the 3.1.2 IPWS file.

Also, last I looked the 3.1.3 could NOT be unlocked.

Doing a google search of "jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3" that the first few links will be what you are looking for.

ALso at this time blackra1n does NOT jailbreak the 3.1.3 firmware, so you must download the current version of redsn0w (it works to jailbreak 3.1.3).

3gs W/3.1.3 baseband 5.12.01 new bootloader
"SOL" Sheriff Hashim found an exploit but handed it over to the dev team, and the general consensus is that they are going to wait till 4.0 to release anything else.

People who have the old bootrom are and have 3.1.3 5.12.01 are able to downgrade their devices to 3.1.2 and the older baseband as long as you backed up shsh file on Cydia's servers when you set it up.

that's the same data I got.

so what I did was use my Diamond as a wifi router, (after jailbreaking 3.1.3) and downloaded fuzzy band. now I need a tmobile sim card to see if I have 6.04 bootloader or 5.08, apparently if you have 5.08 bootloader (on 3.1.3 - 5.12.01) you can downgrade to a lower baseband and unlock.

jailbreak is possible for ANY phone firmware. It is worth it to JB your 3.1.3 just to see if maybe the bootloader wasn't updated, cuz then you can still unlock.


if my bootloader is 6.04 im just gonna sell this thing for $350 cash and buy an 8gb 3G with 3.1.2 for like $250 or so (and actually make some money off the whole transaction as well as get an unlockable iphone)

hmm..where do you find the link to "jailbreak" model "MC" 3.1.3. 5.12.01 3GS?? I would like to know because from what I understand it can not be done.

no you cannot install blackrain or snow on the 3.1.3 - 5.12.01 3GS, only the 3G. So you're pretty much screwed for now. I got it to work because I have a 3G.

I'd honestly recommend you just sell your 3GS and buy a 3G and make a little money as well as JB your iphone.
