LG To Manufacture Nexus 5, Will Feature Snapdragon 800 SoC

Earlier rumors suggested that Google will partner with Motorola to unveil the upcoming Nexus 5 later this year. It appears as if that’s not the case, it has been revealed that LG will be the manufacturer for the next Nexus device.

The news emerges from a Vietnamese site Tinhte, which is well-known for leaking a great deal of information about the Moto X. The site claims that Google will partner with LG to manufacture Nexus 5 which will be based on company’s flagship device, LG G2.

According to the leak, the device will feature a Snapdragon 800 SoC with a 5.2 inch display and will sport a somewhat similar thinner design similar to the new Nexus 7 with thin bezels on the side. It contradicts the report published by Slashgear a few days back that mentioned LG will manufacture the Nexus 5 and will feature a Snapdragon 600 SoC, in order to keep the price level similar to that of Nexus 4.

The front and back side will be made of glass, similar to Nexus 4. This was something that made the Nexus 4 stand out from the rest of the crowd – despite of being easily breakable. Lastly, the rumor mentions that the camera position will be changed in the device but does that means the device will feature a similar camera placement as LG G2? Well, we’ll definitely find it out pretty soon.

There is no news about the pricing details of the device but we do hope that Google and LG will try to keep the pricing down – somewhere close to $299 off-contract. Stay tuned as we’ll share any information we can get about the upcoming Nexus device.

Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful) is the motto of the Corps. That Marines have lived up to this motto is proved by the fact that there has never been a mutiny, or even the thought of one, among U.S. Marines.
