Can my Play store ID be different from "main" Gmail ID ?
 

Hi all,

When my wife got her Android phone, I set it up with our shared gmail id.

All the paid applications for the tablet we got later were also bought with same id.

Now I am getting my own Android phone. I want to use these apps but I don't want that ID - it has her photo, it's the one all of her friends use.

Is it possible to have a separate ID for Google Play vs Gmail / contacts / calendar ?

yeah you can, just set both accounts on phone then just sync on the account you want, turn off sync on the store id

Mine is different since it wouldn't let me use my gmail id as the store id for some reason.

For your issue, first set you common ID over your Android phone and sync the paid apps to your device, turn the syn off. Now add another gamil account for your use, the one you wish to use for mails, contacts, etc.
While installing apps over your phone play store will ask the account you wish to use, select the play store ID, the apps will be installed with your common account.
