I'm being offered an Evo already rooted, wifi hotspot hack, with an extended battery for $ 140.00. is this a good price?

I bought a evo 4g and it was rooted, at least the guy at the sprint store believes so. Anyhow, he ended up doing a hard reset or something like that and before that the phone would work fine. I was able to get into everything as far as apps and camera and all. Once he did the hard reset though, after the whole Evo 4G boot screen, it goes to a screan with colors like a bac round screen but there is no bar for me to go to menu. In fact, when I tilt the screen to view from different directions, there's a message that appears but once it corrects the view angle it disappears and I can't press the continue button to do anything else. Im basically stuck with a colorful back round with no other options. No other buttons work, can't answer the phone, nothing.

go it to hboot power + vol down to see if you have s-off if you do then just need to go to recovery and flash new rom
