Re: [ROM] Gumbo 1.5B

***********Update********************

Open BETA test of Gumbo Kernel
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download GK-0.2-signed.zip

As an alternative to MoDaCo Custom kernel (which also drops right in to Gumbo) I've built a kernel with some power saving features enabled. I'm currently at 52 hours without charging, and this is with moderate use.

What's changed?
Kernel debugging is removed
Ability to choose CPU scaling governor.

How to use -
1 Nandroid back up!!!
2 Download and flash the kernel image above
3 You have three choices of cpu power managment:
balanced
conserve
perform
To enable one of these choices, open a terminal application on your phone and:
Code:
su
balanced (or conserve, or perform)
You'll see a message telling you the settings were successful.
balanced sets the cpu to max (52 while working, 480 while idle, and 245 while sleeping.
conserve sets the cpu to 480 while working, 245 while idle or sleeping.
perform sets to max (52 while awake, 480 while sleeping.

Compcache is not enabled in this version. I see no reason to use compcache while trying to conserve battery, and since MoDaCo's works so well it will be officially supported in Gumbo. This gives the users a choice between high performance (at cost of battery) or normal performance with the ability to enter a power saving mode.

THIS IS A BETA TEST. It works and is stable on MY Hero. Please be sure to back your system up, and report any and all bugs. Once this is confirmed as stable, Gumbo 1.5c will include the changes, and Gumbo 1.51-mck will include MoDaCo's kernel.

Kernel source is available on request, and will be published on release.

"The file link that you requested is not valid. "

Could you please put another link up?

go to the roms thread in android central (i just google it) and he has link in the first post to info about the kernel, and a working link is there.

Edit: I can also verify that the GK flashes into Fresh 1.1, testing functionality in a little bit.

Edit, Take 2: Seems to be functioning correctly. All the aformentioned terminal commands are working.

Re: [ROM] Gumbo 1.5B

thanks bradart.

All I am doing is cutting and pasting his updates. So if you want more support, like Bradart said, you'll have to venture over to androidcentral via the main link I provided on the first post.

Link is fixed though.

Yes, I'm also seeing force close errors. Here is the fix...go to settings --> application --> manage application and uninstall tether app then re-install the file tether apk file. You can download it here
