Exclamation drivers won't install

I follow the below instructions but Windows tells me "unable to install access denied" I am running Win XP. How do I get around this so I can install these drivers so I can connect to QPST. Thanks in advance!

Quote:
1. Connect your Diamond to your computer with the usb cable. This is also an excellent time to back up anything, just in case.

2. We need to put the phone in diagnostic mode. This is done by running dmrouter.exe by dialing ##DIAG Send (##3424 Send).

3. Let windows install your new hardware. There will be two dialogs that come up. The first one should install after you click next. The next will require a file called qcmdmxp.sys and says it can't be found. As luck has it, your computer already has this file, and it's located here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\.
Simply tell the wizard to look there, and it will show the file, click on it, and the installation will finish

Re: drivers won't install

OK, I got it. I had to log in as the Admin which I haven't had to do before on my XP box. It installed drivers. Now when I ##DIAG# activesync disconnects and I can't get QPST to recognize the phone. Any suggestions?

You should disconnect phone before dialing dmrouter. Then reconnect and tell QPST to scn for it using the (cant remember name) tool.

But make sure you disconnect and reconnect when you swith into DM Router mode.

Re: drivers won't install

OK, I got it. Reinstalled the HTC drivers and installed a newer version of QPST. Got my SPC set to 000000. Thanks for ur help.

BTW, I'm running an SSK ROM too. Did a few tweaks to get Cricket to work but so far so good with the ROM.
