HELP! I think have a brick.

I flashed Mystery's Darkred 1.5 yesterday and everything was fine. Then, a few minutes ago, I tried to install the Oldschool Theme from XDA, which worked great on Mystery's Darkred 1.3. But now, I get the initial HTC screen and then a completely black screen that vibrates when I touch it. And I can't establish an active sync connection to reflash it. I've tried taking the battery out for a minute and putting it back in. Still nothing. I have no idea what to do. Also, I can't seem to hard reset via vol down-enter and then power.

Re: HELP! I think have a brick.

Oh wow. Is it under a protection plan? or warranty?

Only way I see it working is if you could connect as a disk drive and flash via internal

Just tried it - no go. Yes, I have a protection plan. It is also still under warranty, but I'm guessing they would probably eventually figure out that I had a custom ROM on there and not honor it.

THANK YOU!!!

I'm sorry I didn't find this thread in my search - I just searched "brick." But my powers of reasoning and logic may have been compromised by my panic.

Well spoken. That line made me laugh.

Also, know that while most instructions for flashing your phone specifically tell you to establish an ActiveSync connection... you only need a USB connection. In other words... even without ActiveSync even running (let alone connected) you can still flash your phone as long as Windows itself can see your phone via USB.

Try holding the power button-the volume down button and "center" D button at the same time and insert your stylus into the reset hole. Hold that for a couple of seconds and you should get the tri-color screen. Now you can try to flash another rom.
