What's the differences between SYSs?

Hello there, quick question from a newbie cook. (:

What's the difference between SYSs? I know a higher number means a newer build, but is there any tangible changes from one SYS to another? Or do cooks just use the latest one that's been leaked?

I know builds 211xx are Windows Mobile 6.5 builds. Other than that, is there any reason why Calkulin jumped from 21028 to 21038, and then to 21042, while Mighty is sticking to 20771?

Thanks for any potential answers. (:

From what I've heard and know, the only thing that makes them different is what's in them. And the overall performance of your rom is determined by what is in it as well. You're just gonna have to become a flashing junkie like the rest of us to know what suits you the best.

I have flash various Rom's but still don't have a clue about the different Sys build. If I flash a new ROM with some new features...how do I know if the chef did it or its in the windows version.

The only one I can tell the difference is the Windows Sys built in 6.5
When I see screen pictures of that you can tell.

Well you would have to compare a newer SYS to an older one like 20931. You find little things like different menus or no transcriber or things like that. All these little details add up and can degrade performance but, again, custom means it suits your needs.

Re: What's the differences between SYSs?

The SYS basicaly has all the MS stuff in it (PIE, Outlook, OneNote, calc, etc..), and the shell of the entire OS. Newer SYS builds sometimes have newer software versions, or just have things tweaked differently. Also, the aku version (Adaption Kit Update) is in the sys.
