Noob Theme Question
 

If I have a Curve 8330 with OS 5.0 can I use a Tour 9630 OS 5.0 theme with it? I don't understand why you couldn't...

These new themes for OS 5.0 most of them are made from *new* theme studio 5.0 provided by RIM... Some themes are interchangeable with OS 4.7 & 5.0... For example im running 5.0 and im able to use themes made for 4.7... But its kind of tricky when running stock OS or 4.7 OS and trying to use 5,0 themes...


We have a few blackberry theme designer around here like
eenieMINI and cooltech that would be able to add some deep insight on the matter...

LOL sorry for my mistype, I have a Curve 8330... hopefully the question makes more sense now.

There is a leaked 5.0.software update for the curve 8330. That being said you'll be able to use a theme built for a 8330 running 5.0... But then again there some precision themes made for 8330 and it will make your look like it running 4.7...

What I'm going to do is ask a theme builder in our blackberry geeks messenger group and see what she say...hang tight

As we discussed this morning in the messenger group, it seems likely if you're running the OS the theme was created for, however, like with our WM phones there are resolution and screensize/resize issues that will most likely make it incompatible. That said I know we can run themes made for the 8900 curve on our tours.... soooo
Doesn't hurt anything to try, if the theme is listed in the themes menue after you've loaded it then it worked.. if its not listed then its not compatible. When I've put in a theme that isn't compatible it doesn't list.... I have to use BBSAK to remove it (or now the new 5.0 version of theme builder which manages your phone themes for you). I have also loaded some themes that are said to "work" but look pretty hellish once activated... doesn't hurt to try ! Sometimes you can contact the theme creator and ask for a version for your phone, also many themes are created for various phones/OS so check around it could be available as is.

No the resolution is different between the Curve 8330 (320 x 240 res) and the 9630 Tour is ( 360 x 480 res). The Curve 8900 has the same screen size as the 9630 Tour but the 8330 doesn't.

themes for the curve 8900 can be used on the tour 9630 and the other way around...
