Facebook for BlackBerry Updated to Version 1.8

Facebook for BlackBerry version 1.8 is now available for download.

Here's what you need to know about the new version:
* Improved News Feed, loading and scrolling
* Better performing Friend List
* Enhanced Photo Viewing, loading and navigation
* Improved Photo uploading

Users running device software 4.6.x can now receive Facebook notifications without associating an email address with your BlackBerry device with bundle 1.8.0.49. For the best experience, users running device software 4.5 will need to use bundle 1.8.0.48 and anyone running device software 6.0 should run 1.8.0.38 (you can however upgrade to 1.8.0.49).

I have read some users are reporting Facebook notifications not working. However, I have also read that this is happening to iPhone users as well and they are working on it.

Also, even if you go to Facebook directly through http://mobile.blackberry.com, it will direct you to the App World link. So, if you are like me and you'd rather install it directly... I found this OTA link and used it myself: http://bit.ly/facebook49

yeah i noticed that for the past couple of days, i haven't been getting any notifications on my bb. didn't mention people using device software 5x...so i guess it will still work on it, right?

I updated to 1.8 (using that OTA link I posted) and I'm running 5.0 on my 9650 and received notifications with no issues.

At least as of yesterday at 5 PM.

good to know...thanks Pibe. dl'd it last night before going to sleep. and me likey! no more lag when you're scrolling through the posts on your screen. and i like how when you go to the photo albums, the pictures are now fit-to-screen size as opposed to smaller ones you had to zoom. friends list also pulls up way way faster.
