Wrong carrier on screen
 

I have a coworker that has the curve 8520 through t-mobile. The sim card in the phone is clearly t-mobile, and her service is with t-mobile. However, the banner at the top of the screen says at&t. This makes no sense to me. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Was the phone originally tmobile or AT&T? Strange though.

Your coworker probaby purchased a unlocked at&t unit and is just using a tmobile sim

There are ways and programs to change the banner name.

The phone was purchased new at a t-mobile store.

Battery pull doesn't fix it I'm sure.. maybe it has something to do with the theme? Or is she running stock theme? Does she have a leaked OS on it and forget to delete vendor.xml? What does the store have to say about it? I wonder if she has some sort of refurb?

I do remember when the Tour came out there were a few owners who had Sprint software on a phone with Verizon logo on the body of the phone..

I know she has the stock theme. I'll get her to ask the store if the phone was previously returned or refurbished.
